Plan Thanksgiving Day to Minimize Weight Gain Risk

in The Too Busy to Diet Blog on November 5, 2013

To limit excessive calorie intake on Thanksgiving Day, look at how your day will be structured.
Thanksgiving is full of lower calorie choices and many super foods. There is really no reason to gain weight when celebrating with so many healthy foods.
If you are eating a large afternoon holiday meal try this:

Eat a lighter breakfast- fruit, milk, and cereal or fruit, low calorie yogurt, and a slice of toast with light healthy margarine
Small snack an hour or two before your large holiday meal
Large afternoon holiday meal
Half a sandwich or a dessert saved from dinner

Large evening holiday dinner
Eat a lighter breakfast- Same as above
Light lunch- half sandwich, a bowl of vegetable or chicken soup, and fruit in the middle of the afternoon
Large dinner holiday meal with a small dessert

Try to fit exercise into your holiday. Go out for a walk in the morning after you have put the turkey in the oven. Or go for a walk with family after a large holiday meal in the afternoon.
The most important thing is to enjoy yourself and aim to keep your weight the same during the holidays! Best wishes for a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
