Similar Effects from Walking versus Running

in The Too Busy to Diet Blog on July 28, 2013

A recent study finds walking to be as good as running for reducing the risk for high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart disease. But a word of caution, It’s not the “window shopping” type of walking but a brisk walk, so you may want to time yourself so you maintain a steady pace.
This study of more than 16,000 walkers and 33,000 runners between the ages of 18 to 80 were followed for over six years. They showed similar reductions in the risk for elevations in cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Whichever you choose, remember to exercise for at least 30 minutes daily.
