Too Busy to Diet Goes on the Road

Finding creative ways to deliver nutrition information is always a challenge. That was until a neighbor decided to have a nutrition backyard party. The invitation read: Too Busy to Diet? Not too Busy to Attend! It went on to say: The purpose of this party is to have a party with a fun, somewhat academic, somewhat educational and celebratory theme. Bring a favorite appetizer with a recipe to find out how healthy it really is. This party is a fun way to answer those endless questions…how can I lose ten pounds? Is Atkins really a good diet? Can I just exercise or can I just diet?
I was assigned the 3 B’s: beer, brownies and my book, Too Busy to Diet. I was told a handful of women from the neighborhood would be coming.
I arrived to find a standing room only crowd with about 40 people gathered. It was a diverse group with men and women from 30 to 80 years old. It included stay at home moms, those retired, and men and women who traveled internationally. The dining room table took center stage and was decorated with my books (to purchase), fun nutrition handouts and a crystal bowl to drop a personal nutrition question.
After partying, we got down to business and I began answering a series of excellent nutrition questions. The evening flew by as I became engaged in a very lively discussion on a variety of nutrition topics. Four hours later and the party still going, I left exhausted but thrilled. I was so happy with the turnout and the enthusiasm of the group. These were a group of busy people who took the time to learn about how to live healthy in the busy challenging world we live in.
