Small Start- Big Finish

Written by Monica Joyce, MS, RD, LD, CDE: Susan’s weight loss journey continues! Susan has lost 1 lb. and couldn’t be happier. Her first week of dieting turned out to be a challenge. Midway thru the week she had a severe muscle spasm in her neck lasting 5 days. Exercise was impossible and she had to limit her activity. We discussed how to avoid any weight gain since she would not meet her activity goals.

She decided to stick closely to 1500 calories. She avoided regular soda and stuck with her club soda and crystal lite drink which she really likes. She continued to snack on popcorn but only snack if she was really hungry. Thinking about her level of hunger before eating is a new experience which she finds helpful and eliminates as much as 300 calories. Susan will stay at 1500 calories add walking back into her routine as possible.
